Our Promise

"Never again. For everyone. Forever."

The Beginning

From Tragedy,
A New Chapter

In 1994, Rwanda faced an unimaginable tragedy. In the aftermath, a nation chose a different path—not denial, not revenge, but reconciliation. Community healing. Unity.

The Kigali Peace Marathon was born from this spirit. First run in 2008, it became a living expression of what Rwanda stands for today: forward motion, collective healing, shared humanity.

What Running Means

Every Step
Is a Choice

In Rwanda, we don't just run. We run to remember those we lost. We run to honor those who survived. We run to prove that coming together is stronger than falling apart.

When you register for the Kigali Peace Marathon, you're not just joining a race. You're joining a movement of people who believe that peace is something we build—not once, but every day, one step at a time.

A Global Community

Running Together
Across Borders

Each year, runners from 30+ countries gather in Kigali. They come with different languages, different backgrounds, different reasons. But they all share one thing: the belief that running can be more than sport—it can be statement.

"I've run marathons on six continents. But when I crossed the finish line in Kigali, I understood what running for peace really means." — International Runner, 2024
